Every month I receive a thick envelope from my health care provider that tells me what medications I’ve received in the previous month. Yesterday I received an envelope containing eight pages about the amount I had in December. Four prescriptions on one page. The other 7? Telling me about my rights.

I think the firefighters have gotten one of the fires under control. I am watching a cam from Santa Monica that two days ago was heavy black smoke. Today it is just a slight haze over the mountains. I can’t tell which fire it is. We can only hope.
