My neighbor kept chickens and that was my supply. One year at Easter I snuck into the coop, took all the eggs, and replaced them with candy eggs...she got quite the surprise when she went to collect them that day.

I have no clue how the church twists itself around to line up with the inconsistencies in the Bible. I guess it just made a better story to say that Mary was the one without sin. I think it also played up the idea that his mother was mortal and so he was closer to humans, perhaps.
