It’s Saori time. I put on a 30 meter warp which is 1,181 inches, so I figured I could get 18 scarves out of it. Here’s scarf 1. Cotton warp, Superbaby Alpaca, fine merino, silk, and misc. wool roving for weft.

I’m finally getting back to fiber arts after a few months of buying a house, moving, house almost burning down, mom in hospital, rescuing her cat, refereeing fights between my cat and mom’s cat, my trans son moving in and whew…trying to squeeze in a few workshops. #weaving #spinning

I should be packing (move is Friday) I determined that the first time I weave on my new loom shouldn’t be on the first day of a three day workshop in June, so I went to the art studio and unpacked the warping board and threw on a little mini project to test everything out.

My new Ashford 24” 8 Shaft Table loom arrived today from New Zealand. Assembled her with the help of a friend and YouTube.

Worked on her from 10am to 4pm, then a little more before and after dinner.

Back to weaving, On the Saori I’m weaving a narrow wall hanging for a future art show on the mycelium. Warp is linen, various wefts are cotton, wool, linen and hand spun wool.

Weaving progress update. I am not enjoying weaving this. Lifting seven shafts with 1 foot is challenging. I appreciate the experience of weaving an 8 shaft plaited twill, but will be happy when these towels are off the loom.
