So pleased that my student Wei Liu successfully defended her PhD thesis yesterday. Joining my lab from Wuhan in 2019, she had a bumpy ride and has shown tremendous tenacity and resilience in taking it over the line. I take my hat off to you Dr Liu! 👏🏻🥳🍾🥂

So very proud of my student George Greiff for winning the David Hanke Medal for the best student talk at this year’s Gatsby Plant Science network meeting in Oxford. Well deserved at the end of a busy and productive PhD 👏🏻💕.

We visited the beautiful RHS garden at Rosemoor on the way back from Croyde yesterday. Many trees with unusual habits, wonderful formal planting, a Mediterranean garden and masses of Roses in bloom. The students enjoyed the raised herb and veg beds in the education centre 🫛🥬🥕🍓!

Enjoying teaching this year’s Croyde field course on plant biodiversity, ecology and evolution with my great colleagues Andy Bailey, Sue Holwell and Daniela Dietrich. Fab students and so many Orchids at Braunton Burrows UNESCO biosphere reserve. Great to see Gary Foster too ☺️

Very happy to be visiting Chris Whitewoods @slcuplants.bsky.social this week- thanks Chris 🙏😁. Imaging mutants from Chris and George Greiff’s PhDs. Are there CLV/WOX interactions in moss…? @ilichenmoss2.bsky.social
