This whole thing is indeed batshit lunacy but uh also why you shouldn't let AI make your ad.

Sure "no one is in favor of infants dying," but only one half of the pro-choice / "pro-life" divide actually takes significant, tangible steps to actually stop infants from dying (and to keep their mothers alive). And it's not the side that calls themselves "pro-life."

"Pro-life" laws killed almost 500 babies in the 18 months after Donald Trump's Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

The richest man in the history of the world is dismantling the government of the most powerful nation in the history of the world. He has access to reams of private data and sensitive information and also does significant business with our friends and foes alike. I dunno seems like a big deal.

I absolutely appreciate efforts to support breastfeeding women and it’s crucial that new moms understand the benefits but the idea that breastfeeding for *two years* is “simple” is one of the most insane things I’ve ever read.

This whole piece is well worth a read, if only for insight into how conservative networks launder virulent racism, misogyny, and hatred of gays as simple "anti-DEI" crusades. But this what the anti-DEI crusaders say in private:

These retreats always attract a great group— I make friends on every one. The Kenya retreat is a big, incredible adventure. The storytelling workshops focus on using images + words to craft a narrative. The yoga is so great you’ll get lost in your own body. Plus: safari 😻

Kenya is a really special place, and Nichole and I take retreaters to our favorite areas that are off the main tourist track. Plus what a thrill to be on safari with a National Geographic photographer helping you out. onthegroundretreats.com/retreat/kenya

These stories join a litany of others, including the woman whose water broke at 15 weeks but was refused an abortion until she was septic, and whose husband desperately packed her body with ice packs to keep her fever down. They are now terrified (understandably) of trying again.

As part of my Writing Practice series, I send out links to some of my favorite pieces of writing. I'm always looking to make that list longer. What essays / op-eds / feature stories have you read, this year or any year, that you loved?
