It’s a pastry case filled with a mixture of evaporated milk and muscovado sugar. A regional classic popularised by Gary Rhodes in the 80s. Btw, they made “school cake”, basically sponge with icing and hundreds and thousands (*not* sprinkles) on the GBBO this (last?) week.

Doc Marten’s ain’t what they used to be. Everyone I know who has bought them in the past 10 years has been disappointed, in their lack of durability especially. It’s Solvair for me.

So glad she made it. My lovely cat suffered a thrombosis while I was away on holiday and my (adult) son had to deal with it. To make it worse, I was having an afternoon nap and he couldn’t reach me by phone. Still miss him.
