Working on my Hamanaka visiting advice guide, taking photos of me & Royce's Hamanaka merch. Believe it or not this is not even close to everything they had. The stamps we got by walking into the local post office and being lucky, I've heard resale of Japanese stamps is illegal in Japan. #lupiniii

Okay so I got some tiny cans from Japan, and I just put on the stickers. Still need shading. I will have some in the backseat of the Fiat alongside some cigarettes and empty instant ramen. Maybe some balled up paper, making their space messy cuz they're messy boys.

Okay... so. In the first section I am amused by this Mandarake employee saying the "sales of Lupin are low" and like, Yeah that hasn't changed much 😭 but the second section was about fan clubs and fanzines and I realized I had found an issue of this one! The issue I got is from 1991 and had-

The difference between printed version and the real thing honestly breaks my heart. Imagine painting THAT and then people only get to see the black and white shrunk down one... photos mine, from Monkey Punch Collection.

Okay I stand corrected! There is some text on the TWCFM book pages, it's mainly crediting who drew each image/giving context, so it's giving insight on what artists did the drawings for these shots, which is nice! But it's not about themes etc. Machine translation below, so it's not very good.

This one is a real wild find. It's a poster for Lupin the 8th! The info I got from the small bit of hand written sales info says "Anime August 1983 issue supplement: Lupin the 8th & Haurashiman reversible poster" and yes there is a random other guy on the other side. Continued in next post.

I'm BACK baby. And I have visted Heiji Zenigata's memorial in Kanda's Myoujin Shrine to see Zenigata's great great great grandpa. Beautiful shrine and I love the detail of the columns with zeni carved tops! Also there was a standee of him to put your face in. #lupiniii

Here's my three finished charity zine projects. I'm very thankful to the folks who helped these projects look as beautiful as they do! It's been a joy raising money with gay Lupin art. Hopefully more coming in 2026. Excited for the next one!
