On April 9, we received a termination notice for our active IMLS grant. This grant was designated to support the digitization of the entire Latimer Family Collection for the public to access online. With the termination of this grant, we have lost over $90,000 in funding and added expenses. This not only disrupts our digitization efforts, but also undermines our core mission of inspiring future problem-solvers and other lifelong learners. Without digitization, the Latimer Family Collection, an irreplaceable archive of African American achievement, will remain less accessible to the underrepresented communities we strive to reach. Losing this funding limits ou ability to share Latimer's story and foster imagination, connection, and resilience in students, educators, and families throughout NYC and beyond.
