(2/2) I imagine this is Laurens trying to respond to Hamilton’s letter about John André, circa October 1780. Laurens was a prisoner of war in Philadelphia at the time, and Hamilton presumably comes to visit him around his birthday (to show him a portrait of his fiancée Eliza!). #historicallams #lams
