When reviewing a new data set with my collaborators or our core staff, probably my favorite question to pose is "What are all of the ways you can think of that this data could have happened?"
What you planned to test is only part of what happens in an experiment.

“Move fast, break things” is a perfectly valid strategy if you are developing web pages or mobile phone apps. It is irresponsible and potentially deadly when it comes to areas such scientific research, weather prediction, disease prevention, and air travel.
