I'm a university professor, teaching digital behaviour and emerging technology on the west coast of Canada. There needs to be a balance of ethics, social good, and innovation if we want to use the technologies of today to make the world a better place.
When the things that once happened in the dark, in the void of human existence, only reaching you if someone miraculously found a way to get it into your mainstream media, are now being livestreamed for the world to see, and you sit in your comfort and privilege and do nothing, you CHOOSE apathy.

When Mike Myers said elbows up on SNL this past weekend, it was another reminder of what it means to be Canadian.
It wasn't an attack or an aggression; that's not what elbows up means.
It was a reminder that we have a right and a responsibility to protect and defend our team.
This won't divide us.
