Biden administration pushes for more investment in early childhood care and education. Estimates at the state-level of how many kids' care would be improved.

That 1.2 million is from my study below.

Signed up for the @aeacswep.bsky.social junior mentoring breakfast & I didn’t realize that this is the second to last year that I’m eligible 😳

Somehow I’m already in my fifth year as an AP…!

(But only second year of my tenure clock due to extensions 😅)

It’s not the Nobel, but, look, neither is the Econ Nobel 😅 -

The second chapter of my dissertation is published at the Journal of Health Econ!! I am so excited!!!

I study the effect of an info campaign on long-term care insurance coverage - surprise, it works!

The child care cliff poses challenges for providers. Some may close, many may raise prices, leaving parents & kids in a bind.

But oft-cited estimates that 1/3 will close are wildly improbable - thank you Rachel Cohen for taking a critical look at it -

A program that saved child care for millions is expiring. What now?
The "child care cliff" marks the end of one of the last pandemic-era safety nets.

As per usual, I would like to remind everyone that South Carolina is one of only three states in the U.S. where you can legally own a kangaroo without a permit. Most other universities can't offer that.

The Economics dept at the University of South Carolina is hiring!!

This is a broad tt search for an empirical microeconomist. Preference for ability to teach machine learning or AI methods & research in fields of labor/IO/political economy.
