Bad as this is, I think the reality will be worse. The only guy (because it will absolutely be a guy) who I can see harnessing Trump’s cult with any similar degree of success is Matt Gaetz. He’s off the radar for now, but I suspect he’ll be back once his “indiscretions” have been memory-holed.

If you like olives in hearty meat stews, you should try caldereta. It’s a Filipino beef stew with bell pepper, potatoes, carrots, and green olives, and the thickening agent is liver pâté. It’s fantastic.

Nah, I remember when my grandma passed a few years ago and then got her monthly Social Security deposit a few days later, it took Social Security NO TIME AT ALL to inform my mom that the money needed to be returned to them ASAP.

3/5 We should treat the work of welcoming and deprogramming other members of this cult as one of our primary responsibilities. It should not be demanded/expected of women and PoC (which I don’t think was happening here, but I understand the confusion/frustration).

2/5 While we do need to be conscious of making space and not dominating discussions in the wider movement, this is one area where we actually have unique experience that can be of help: we have all of us, to some extent, been members of the Cult of Toxic Masculinity and Racism.

1/5 I think one of the big points that needs to be included with this kind of talk is that ~this is an assignment targeted mostly at us men who are already here~. It needs to be made clear that we aren’t asking this of people who are already overburdened with our fragility.

Exactly. The ACA got so watered down trying to get to 60 votes that it already IS the original Republican plan. But since it got done under Obama, they have to hate it now.
