Absolutely cannot put into words how unbelievable what W&M’s women’s basketball team is doing right now is.

Entered conference tourney last week seeded 9th, losers of 7 of their last 8, having never won a conference title.

They’re now CAA champs and 1-0 in the NCAA tourney.

March Magic.

See this right here is why Mina is so great.

Far too often takes on athletes are made in ways that do not separate athletes performance from their existence as human beings.

Mina’s takes always make clear she knows she’s covering people — who happen to play sports. The difference shows.
As someone who spends a lot time thinking about the values I want to teach my kid (besides PLEASE DON’T EAT DIRT), the thing I keep coming back to is this: I want him to believe that the strongest, bravest thing he can do is give a shit about other people—especially ones who aren’t like him at all.

Anyway, my CEO captured my feelings about this “email us what you worked on or you’re fired” crap far better than I ever would:

Federal salaries are 4% of the budget, so this is not about money.

But even if it were, this playbook from Tech is moronically applied to Feds, who don’t have big salaries and tranches of equity to hold over their heads.

So either Musk is absurdly dumb or he’s trying to make our government fail

Trump pardoning Blagojevich, stopping the investigation of Adams, and making it legal to bribe foreign governments is sending a clear message:

He’s open for business.

America First, my ass.

Gen Z learned in school how media has bias. And they internalized it. Which is good — be a critical consumer!

But en masse they haven’t learned how to sort through that bias. So they blindly trust random YouTubers instead because they think traditional media is lying to them.

MAGA exploited that.

Shuttering USAID is bad because of the humanitarian impact AND for the America-first people, *awful* for national security.

Money spent on international development is wildly more effective than defense spending at actually building peace, stability, and good will.

Evil and stupid.

This week was my first week back from parental leave.

My job is all about supporting federal civil servants.

So, uh, been a long week.

Would love some good fantasy or sci-fi book series recommendations.

Most recently read Kingkiller Chronicles and generally liked it as a reference point!

This is why I think her and @rokhanna.bsky.social should be the frontrunners for 2028.

Dems cannot be the party of status quo (or return to status quo). Things are not working well, the middle class is ceasing to exist.

There has to be something meaningful to vote *for*
Idgaf I’m still fighting for guaranteed healthcare.

Aspiration is the answer. Not just “we’re not the bad guys.”

We need something more meaningful than that. I want a future worth fighting for. They have no vision. We do. Lean into our strengths and knock them out. 👊🏽

I am allergic to oranges.

My toddler was demanding to eat one and I told her she couldn’t because it makes me feel sick and she has this very long pause and then goes

I hope Kuzma is okay, but I can’t help but notice how much better the #Wizards look with him out of the rotation.

For-profit companies and government may sometimes have similar sorts of structures, but they have entirely different purposes.

Boggles my mind how often people try to thoughtlessly replicate corporate best-practices in government and/or education spaces.

This is basically just a gigantic regressive tax.

It should be criminal to pull this crap.

Question for @minakimes.bsky.social (and anyone else with takes!)

Where’s the tipping point in terms of Broncos wins/Commanders losses where Bo Nix becomes the OROY favorite?

Love that CBS is carrying the #NWSL Championship in primetime on a Saturday night, rather than being relegated to a cable network in favor of a matchup between two mediocre football teams.

Go Spirit!!

Excellent work by the #Wizards vets tonight at building their trade value.

Brogdon and JV both looked like great pieces for a contender and that game was good learning for the rookies. Absolutely ideal outcome for long term, imo. Win would’ve been cool but probably isn’t helpful at this point.

I used to coach high school golf and I found that I could save my players ~10 shots/round just by teaching them to make better decisions.

I see a ton of guys who are elite OTT or ATG who can’t get to scratch because of bad decision-making. The key is somatic awareness 🧵 #golfsky

The Kyle Kuzma Experience ™️ is perfectly represented by this GIF.

Can’t wait until he’s traded.

A broad consequence of Twitter (and possibly now here) is that policy ideas reduced to a small number of characters means flashy soundbite ideas win out — and they’re usually bad!

Vivek is using it masterfully to get eyes and support behind horrific policy ideas over there.

Can’t decide if my favorite thing here is seeing @dynarski.bsky.social’s posts again or the absolute glee @minakimes.bsky.social has at not having assholes in her mentions.

Or just not having Elon’s posts promoted into my feed.

When my toddler was born at every stage I found myself desperately wondering when it would end.

With my newborn I’m feeling much more joy in the present, because I know the phase will be gone so fast.

I have said this many, many times but anyone who is trying to sell you that school choice will magically fix schools is lying to you. At very best they are new paint on a house with a broken foundation. A lot of times it’s lead paint, though.
