Postdoc in the Serre lab at Institute for Genome Sciences at UMB! I work on gene expression control and ncRNAs in Plasmodium #parasites. I trained in molecular biology and bioinformatics 🧬👩‍💻
Check out our newest study on transcription in Leishmania donovani. We show that transcription is truly constitutive during stage conversation on a genome-wide level using PRO-seq.

RNA synthesis in Leishmania donovani is constitutive during stage conversion: a genome-wide PRO-seq analysis | Microbiology Spectrum
Our data unequivocally show that life cycle stage-dependent gene expression in Leishmania donovani, the parasite responsible for the lethal Kala-Azar disease, does not involve regulated RNA synthesis. We used a genome-wide analysis of RNA synthesis of ...

I travelled to Würzburg the last couple of days for the Joint Parasitology Spring Meeting from the DGP, BSP and SSTMP. I had the chance to present my project about the role of #lncRNAs in #Plasmodium #parasites. I met amazing researchers and I also got to meet old friends from my time at BNITM.

I am proud to share that the work from my time at the #BNITM is finally out in #Mbio today. Go check out the manuscript if you want to read about polycistronic transcription in #Leishmania parasites:

Genome-wide quantification of polycistronic transcription in Leishmania major | mBio
Leishmania spp. are pathogens of humans and animals and cause one of the most important neglected tropical diseases. Regulation of gene expression in Leishmania but also in the related Trypanosoma is radically different from all eukaryotic model organisms,...

It was a pleasure presenting my research about #ncRNAs in #Plasmodium at the #EMBL next generation in infection biology conference. Such a great opportunity to network with institutes all across Europe and highlight the importance of #infection biology research! Thanks to the organizers.
