Ohio University is an R1 institution in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains, making it a beautiful place to live and work. The community here has been very welcoming since I started 3 years ago. I have also felt very supported as an ECR within my department and the university.

Early identification and discussion could serve as prevention, helping people address multiple addiction risks before they escalate. Sometimes the concern itself tells us something important about overall distress and addiction problems.

Important limitations: This was cross-sectional, self-reported data that didn't account for covariates. Future research should use longitudinal designs with advanced statistical methods, more comprehensive measures, and account for important covariates to build on these findings.

Clinical takeaway: We should screen people with CSB concerns for other addictive behaviors, especially gambling and cannabis. And vice versa - discuss potential CSB concerns with patients who have other addiction issues.

People with CSB concerns showed higher engagement with ALL substances/behaviors compared to those without CSB concerns. They also reported more problems with these behaviors when they did engage.

Our study looked at this broader group using data from 4,072 census-matched U.S. adults. We wanted to see if CSB concerns correlate with problems across multiple addictive behaviors: alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs, cannabis, illicit drugs, pornography, gambling, and video games.

We know CSB disorder often co-occurs with substance use disorders and behavioral addictions, like gambling. But what about people who are just concerned about their sexual behavior being out of control, even if they don't meet diagnostic criteria?
