You are so right. People are weird, making something out of nothing. He wasn’t trying to get her to lose, just wanted the kids to share the joy with her. She probably wanted them there too but hadn’t planned on being in first place with second so close behind.

It’s amazing that so much was made of this. When I ran the Boston Marathon my daughter had my 10 year old grandson jump the fence to run with me to the finish. It was great!! Of course I was no where near first place. It did not take away from my individual accomplishment. It made it better.
