My extra-credit "Show me an error that you caught AI making" idea is either a smashing success at illuminating the weaknesses in LLMs or instead illuminated that students are good at prompting AI to say stupid things. I'm going to hope for the first. #IDSky #academiclife

Talk about a timely highlight of the importance of NIH #idweek @idweek.bsky.social

Same- I think of this all the time.

The most common reaction I get to this graphic is "wow, heart disease and cancer have gotten really bad."

No- thanks to sanitation, vaccines, and antibiotics, we live long enough to die from chronic diseases.

Nice! If you can, take this kind of photo with a telephoto lens - it will compress the viewpoint and make them standout more.

Here's a harshly lit example (mine).

"Today I’m joined by the IDSA- they fight bacteria harder than I fight medical consensus!" @idsainfo.bsky.social

(Yes, this is what I saw) #IDSky

"Tell us, IDSA- why is antibiotic stewardship is so important when I have a probiotic smoothie that cures literally everything and tastes like mango?”

I’m circling any session presented by Dr G-B from now on. He may be talking about CAP, but he’d fit right in with a showing of Hamlet #escmidglobal #idsky

It is 2025, and Examsoft still makes the most confusing piece of software I've ever encountered. Avoid if possible.

At least I'm not alone?

Even ChatGPT can't believe this timeline.

This reminds me of this comic truism.

I had to leave it to appreciate it. NJ rocks.

Just gonna say, you need to know what you're doing if you accept ChatGPT's analysis of an article on face value. I'm no expert in immortal time bias, but its initial suggestion of it as a critique didn't make sense to me.

"Oh, my bad! I was entirely wrong." 1/

I thought about looking up how a beta-lactam can affect an organism that doesn't have a cell wall, but I'm too busy so I'll assume it's wrong. Ditto Legionella.

Also, while I get that there are plenty of antibiotic-sensitive C. difficile strains, please don't think that your CDI patient has one. 2/

I tried to get ChatGPT to help me prove the case that switching from meropenem to ertapenem is barely narrowing therapy, since the effects on gut flora are likely the same and the differences on medically important aerobes are minimal. It did worse than I expected. 1/

Now is the time of year where my Word dictionary changes languages, just to mess with me. This is an effective way to stress someone who is upset by the misuse of adjectives as adverbs.
