How was new Oko for you?

Why not adjust the sideboard to deal with lessons better? 2 wear down, 3 seam rips and 1 chomping changeling should completely flip the matchup. New oko might also be good like in Nicole Tipple’s version

Most decks probably aren’t playing basics, or not enough to matter. And lavaleaper can just held up until it can be played as a finisher. Something to consider!

Nice decklist! I would recommend going mono red elementals with lavaleaper, legend of Roku and no ashling rekindled. Lavaleaper doubles your mana basically. If you go turn 4 lavaleaper, you can turn 5 tap for 10 mana, cast champion beholding lavaleaper, then devastating onslaught x=2 for lethal

What are your picks for your 5 best brews? The ones that you think will be the most competitive?

Please make a video playing the worlds winning version against the $27 lessons version! It’s not worth $27 anymore!

SaffronOlive made a version of Izzet lessons that cost $27. Prob the best budget deck around

To paraphrase: "Toru Inoue's nickname is Potatoes because he's like Matt Damon in the Martian; he'll find a way to survive. But he went 0-15 in our practice draft and yesterday went 0-3. So i think we'll just call him "Mashed Potatoes" going forward"

What are your front runners?
December 6, 2025 at 4:44 AM
Good luck! From a scale from “I guess this is ok” to Nadu, how strong do you view your deck? How satisfied are you with the deck relative to the resulting metagame?
December 6, 2025 at 1:11 AM
That’s awesome! Good luck!
December 5, 2025 at 7:18 AM
Can you say how confident/satisfied you are with your deck choice for this tournament? Like “this is broken” confident or “I think I’m playing it safe but it’ll be solid” confident?

Is the legend of kuruk a card that you think is good mainly in Dimir bounce, or can you see it appear in other archetypes too?
December 1, 2025 at 9:42 AM
That makes sense. The deck seems like it’s well placed in the meta, as your most difficult matchups aren’t that popular at the moment. I wonder if we’ll see a version of this at worlds

Congrats! What’s your hardest matchup?

What decks are legend of Roku slotting into?

I wish I knew this when I was getting into competitive magic. I was missing a lot of gameplay decisions, and then not realizing that I was missing them. I can now better understand when I lose because of variance and things outside my control, and when I lose because I made a bad decision.

This is why a great way to improve is to review your own games and to take the time to break down gameplay decisions. By working on this, you get to understand so much more with the game

Magic is invisible. There are a lot of branching decision trees within games. It’s hard to tell which decisions are correct. There is no evaluation bar like in chess. The higher the skill level, the better able you are to identify mistakes. So the higher the skill level, the more you see

Did you consider pre-banning Doc Aurlock for Standard? It seems like a highly problematic card with airbending, specifically making infinite 1/1 tokens on turn 4 with Aang swift savior and appa steadfast guardian. I’m worried that the deck will be a menace at Worlds coming up

Wow this is going to be amazing with leyline of resonance. The deck already won scg con Baltimore. mtgdecks.net/Standard/mon...

Won a couple of games with a turn 4-5 combo kill with the deck. Wild ride + 2099, or Frostcliff siege + fear of missing out + quantum riddler
