Energy transition in the electric sector goes back to at least the 1970s as a follow on from “Limits to Growth”. The book “Managing the Energy Transition” was published in 1977 and charted a path to full transition to renewable sources by 2100.

Back in 1977 sustainability was the main reason for the energy transition movement. Climate change did come until later.
