It depends on the person and if you most of the criteria that the government is looking for. I wasn't accepted at first, so my then partner and I went the domestic partner route.

I cried at my ceremony too. There was just something about making that decision and then to be accepted as a Canadian was just a "welcome home" moment. I agree with you that it should be mandatory especially to those who have never been to one. So good to be at home 😇

I took citizenship in 2017 after the U.S. elections in 2016. I'm so glad I did🇨🇦❤️
