My usual perspective is that the worst Democrat in office is still always going to be better than the best Republican, but . . . yeah. Going to be leaning on the primaries even harder in the coming years. We need better Democrats. (2/2)

It's . . . really weird that I never saw that specific diagram before a couple of weeks ago, and now here it is again in a completely different context.

Today's work was mostly about adding a system for tracking city sizes and state formation. Along with optional rules for what to do if civilization really takes a nose-dive due to some unresolved crisis. Good for working in a setting that assumes Great Filters and cyclic models of history. (2/2)

Today it occurred to me there's a system I'm familiar with, that has a good licensing scheme, and is so light-weight that I ought to be able to build anything I need on top of it. That would be #FATE.
So: time for me to crack open my FATE Core book and supplements and give this some thought. (3/3)

I've been searching for the past few years for a TTRPG system with a friendly licensing scheme to use for some of my fictional universes, like my "Human Destiny" space-opera setting. I've been through four or five systems in the past few years, and each one falls short one wat or another. (2/3)

Trying to decide if I want to stick with a #BasicRoleplaying (BRP) treatment for that, or if I want to build it in the #CypherSystem.
Neither is a perfect match for what I have in mind (although the new edition of Cypher may help). Really do not want to design a new RPG from scratch, though. (2/2)

Yeah, I tend to be kind of unproductive in the long term unless I have tangible objectives to work toward. The trick is to set objectives that are reasonably attainable (so I don’t get discouraged) but really do amount to forward progress on the projects I most care about.

Otherwise today was kind of quiet and lazy. Tomorrow I think I'm going to bang on mathematics a bit, and work on a version 0.3 of the Cultural Evolution Game. I may actually start writing some of the supporting material for that too. (2/2)
