New video from Mayor Adams now embracing the 34th St busway with some "enthusiastic" citizens stopping for photos with him. www.instagram.com/reel/DNDgSws...

It's beautiful! 😍

Quality of life for who?

28,000 daily bus riders sit in traffic on 34th Street moving slower than walking pace. They live here too. They matter too.

Cool, let’s start with the *actual real world data* from the 14th St Busway:

🚌 Bus speeds +24%
💥 Crashes -42%
🚦Traffic impact on adjacent streets = negligible
💼 Business impact = zero

No study beats proof. We've already run the experiment just 20 blocks downtown. It worked!

A handful of Midtown residents are furious the city wants to make 34th Street buses move faster than 3mph.

The NY Post gave them a megaphone. Let’s take it back.

Implementation of the 14th Street busway resulted in a 42% decrease in crashes on the corridor and the plan for 34th street includes extensive pedestrian safety enhancements including intersection daylighting, additional pedestrian space and concrete medians.

Given that 34th St isn’t primarily used for tunnel trips, the proven success of the 14th St busway in improving bus speeds and safety, and the fact that over 28,000 people ride the 34th St buses daily despite it's average speed being 3-5 MPH, I support moving forward with the busway plan.

So I looked into it. While some drivers may use 34th, it's not a primary tunnel-to-tunnel route. Google, Apple, and Waze mostly route drivers via 36th/37th St, which directly connect the tunnel entrances.

More concrete curb extensions coming to 2nd Ave! (2nd Ave & 19th St pictured) Much needed in this area given chronic @placardabuse.bsky.social from the nearby NYPD offices + 13th precinct. Thanks @nyc-dot.bsky.social!

After (far too many) years of advocacy, the new Queensboro Bridge pedestrian path is finally open! Walkers, runners, and cyclists will no longer be squeezed with far too little space. Proud to have helped push this forward as @manhattancb6.bsky.social's Transportation Committee Chair!

Manhattan Community Board 6 and other Community boards across NYC agree:
It's time to remove parking and increase visibility at every intersection citywide.

Is DOT claiming that leaving off the buffer between the bike lane and the parking lane in spot like this was intentional?! 🤨
February 20, 2025 at 2:52 AM
. @nycsanitation.bsky.social bike lane plow appreciation skeet. It's easy to be critical of NYC street safety projects (or lack thereof) but important to appreciate how far we've come! Appreciate DSNY maintaining snow and ice free bike lanes even days after the storm 🥰

Strongly support both bills!

Relatedly, @manhattancb6.bsky.social recently passed a resolution calling @nyc-dot.bsky.social to 'promptly implement and
maintain temporary barriers or other protective measures for bike lane protection during road milling'.

After a long wait, I enjoyed having a spirited back and forth with CM Holden. The marathon on public meetings continues at CB-6 full board tonight!

Morals are low as the crowd dwindles

Should be a fun day of local civils today. Speaking at today's City Council hearing opposing registration for ebikes (pictured is the line to register to speak). CB-6 meeting, where we're voting on a resolution to support a 42nd St busway later. 🚌🚲

Thank you @nycdot.bsky.social for laying down the red paint today for the offset bus lane on 2nd Ave between 23rd St - 14th St!

This completes an important project to move the bus lane on 2nd Ave from 59th St to Houston St from the curb to 1 lane offset from the curb.
