New School history goes on--and on. Here's our latest chapter: *Unbound: Liberal Arts at The New School*, an exhibition at the University Center up until the end of October in honor of Lang's 40th. How will the liberal arts at The New School change? How will Lang? (Although BPATS forever for me!)

Grateful for this review from the Chicago Tribune! And so glad they featured this incredible painting by Herb Migdoll of *Astarte* that was the first ballet on the cover of Time Magazine (in March 1968). Didn't really need that person by it, though. (Full review: juliafoulkes.net/wp-content/u...)

I am delighted that Urban Omnibus has published my essay on the origins of City Center for Music and Drama--a preview of the book to come! How much can a building dedicated to the arts achieve? urbanomnibus.net/2024/12/on-t...
On the City Stage - Urban Omnibus
A modest, mid-block midtown building repurposed as a municipal arts center, City Center represented a monumental effort to support a program of arts for all. But how much can a building achieve?

One of the focus points in the exhibition on The Joffrey is the ballet The Rite of Spring. The music is well-known but the dance was lost–until The Joffrey aided its reconstruction. WNET/All*Arts has posted an essay of mine on this--listen to the music while you read! www.allarts.org/2024/11/joff...
A look at Joffrey Ballet’s recreation of ‘The Rite of Spring’
For Robert Joffrey, the reconstruction of "The Rite of Spring" brought forth the past to speak to the future of dance.
