I’ve heard from staff at the Phoenix Indian Center that hosting a tribal ID event there could be a great solution to help streamline the process and provide clarity for the community. This could foster greater access to tribal IDs and alleviate some of the concerns surrounding citizenship status.

Additionally, there seems to be some confusion regarding how obtaining a tribal ID affects citizenship status. Some individuals worry that they might need to renew their ID every four years to maintain their status as Navajos. It would be great if leadership addressed these issues.

Many have to travel to Window Rock and may find themselves waiting for extended periods, as staffing at the office can be inconsistent. There have even been instances where applicants have been unable to complete the process due to closed windows, which is frustrating.
