I think part of that can be attributed to the April win being labeled as a repudiation of Musk, not necessarily Trump, and why he was sent packing shortly thereafter

They already do this to some/a good degree. But a *big* part of the reason ppl don’t recognize these platforms is how cable television & the GOP paints the dem party. See @gelliottmorris.com recent posts about this

Uh, ok, so? Trying to convince voters they’ll be looked after on the basis of an (inauthentic) appeal to shared experiences isn’t new, nor particularly problematic on its own. I think his other issues (tattoo + subsequent deflection, Reddit posts) are by far more troubling

His candidacy is highly problematic for obvious reasons, but I don’t think one strictly *needs* a blue collar upbringing to competently advocate for/meet blue collar needs as a policy maker. Tons of populist left-wing revolutionaries came from upper class
