"You're walking a very fine line, kid. Don't trip." Whitaker only arches his hips forward, his hand coming up to brush his own lips coyly. "That's why you snapped at me and Corcoran. You think you haven't fucked me well enough to keep me focused on you." He laughs softly. "Oh my God. You're insecure."

Just gimme a minute.” “You’re on top for a reason, baby.” He rubs the other’s knee soothingly. “Take your time, ‘kay?” Whitaker’s head bobs, and he eases down a bit more. His teeth dig into his lip <i>hard</i>, the skin going white from the pressure, and he whimpers softly. “Atta boy.” Robby encourages him gently. “You got this.” “It’s like you’re in my throat.” Whitaker rasps. “‘M full of you.” “Keep talking like that and it’ll be over before we get to the fun part.” But Robby lets himself preen internally, lets the words etch themselves on the inside of his skull. “Almost there.”

what do you do when the world doesn't end? when the broken bone isn't broken; it is sprained a twinge when you stretch in the warm bed that's still yours the morning after if you lie there, you hardly feel it a faint memory of what could have been or what should have been but isn't the missed step underfoot isn't a pit like it felt before and the relief floods you like when the rains return fills you and fills you until the prickling at your neck is not a saguaro pressed to your spine but a missed pin in a dress that just needs taking in is it a sin not to trust? you still double-knot your laces, still check the door before bed even god would look both ways before crossing, after all the boot could still fall from a tall shelf if you don't watch it close enough they don't tell you when the hands on your chest lift when your lungs finally inflate after you've rationed the breath you thought'd be your last when the date on the calendar comes to pass and the street isn't littered with empty clothes that life keeps going and here you are, shell-shocked and battle-worn from an eternity you have back again the flowers bloom the smoke fades and when the rains come thank your skin for feeling it
