Albert Camus, born this day in 1913

“I should like to be able to love my country and still love justice. I don't want any greatness for it, particularly a greatness born of blood and falsehood. I want to keep it alive by keeping justice alive.”

Rode to Norris Square Park and the incredibly beautiful Las Parcelas community gardens. What a treasure!

Much of the route through North Philly isn't what you'd call "bike friendly," but the Lehigh corridor has an ok bike lane, and the American Street bike lane is really great

Swamped with end-of-spring-quarter grading and feeling terrible about not getting down to Center City for the big march. But it turns out that a couple of dozen people were having a sweet little rally in Mt Airy. ❤️my neighborhood! ❤️Philly! ❤️my country! #NoKings!

Games that hit our table in January: Three new games - Bebop, Fromage, and Sky Team - topped the list. All excellent and highly recommended!

Found this on my phone, evidently taken in 2017. Good advice, never taken.

I remember as a young person reading a description in one of JD Salinger Seymour Glass stories of how Seymour's room had piles of books everywhere and thinking how ludicrously pretentious that was.

Well, here we are... There were some things I obviously just didn't understand

2024 was a good year for gaming in our house. (The hours played is inaccurate tho because I forgot to finish games in the app probably 40 or 50 times. A twelve our game of Azul is not a thing.)

Art by @bethsobel.bsky.social makes Pollen such a beauty on the table. Typical Reiner Knizia ingenious design makes it tricky & deliciously nasty game.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all who celebrate.

This is my brother's dog, not mine. But too good not to share.

My dedicated office assistants have informed me that work is done for the year.

Lol I figured since I live in Philly and feel caught up enough on end-of-term grading, I might just head down and see what this #PAXunplugged scene is all about.

I don't know who made this, but thank you!

It's time I introduced my tireless office assistants Monty (dog) and Cash (cat). Hard at work as always.

I periodically check google news for dementia-related stuff, and honestly, if I had a dollar for every time I've seen these scare tropes repeated, I could probably buy a social media platform.

Social scientist warns of stigmatizing effects of five common dementia-scare tropes. Do YOU use one of them?

Sure, that was a good night's sleep. But I won't rest until my score is perfect!

Tonight's cocktail is the Yellow Bird - a rum-based, Caribbean-themed drink to celebrate our Puerto Rican citizens who just may have saved the American democratic experiment today.
