Because the point in this case was to put Musk's grandiose claims on the scale he apparently cares about, given his sensitivity to JCO's barb.

That was Hassan. Unbelievable.

OK, as mentioned above, "nearly" can be a generous category, with such a huge oeuvre.

But I started with 'Them' and and after that 'Wonderland,' and so it begins.

Giving some latitude for "nearly" !!

Once I read 'Them' back in the day, I was hooked.

2/2

And, of course, typo again: "Still not sure..." But you get the idea.

Chuck, with respect: Read the room.

Nothing about it this moment makes people want to hear "we will keep fighting" from the team that just caved.

Agree.

Sen Hassan, asked what will happen if Republicans don't carry out the deal, "Well, shame on them."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

You think Dem voters would have turned out in the numbers, and with the enthusiasm, they did JUST FIVE DAYS AGO if they thought the party was going cave like this? Jesus

Score of 1.

#9: Never carried a boombox on my shoulder. (Or anywhere else, for that matter.)

Am aware and have written about the various maga demands on higher ed (including the 'compact') many times.
November 8, 2025 at 11:03 PM
And so it begins ...

It's like when you're watching late-night cable, and 90% of the ads are Stair-Master, 'Jitterbug' phones, "A Place for Mom," Prevagen and pharma ads for acronym diseases you've never heard of, and—if you're watching Fox—why you should be buying Trump gold coins and crypto.

I never use ChatGPT

I use Gemini as expanded version of "search." Why does Vermillion SD (where we just were) us two 'L's vs Vermilion OH (my wife's home town)? What's a summary of major research univ responses to Trump demands? How many non-profit local-news orgs have started up? And where? Etc
November 8, 2025 at 3:41 PM
Or, to be a little more precise:

Columbia and Cornell say that. And Yale is keeping its head down.

But Brown, Penn, Dartmouth (!) have all rejected the odious "compact."

And despite countless blind-sourced "Harvard about to cave!" stories in NYT, Harvard has not (yet) caved.
November 8, 2025 at 3:20 PM
Yup. The Departure board at ORD said "Washington-Dulles" and "Washington-National." The pilot en route said, "Thanks for joining us on this flight to National Airport in Washington DC."

People in the SF area know you're not from around there if you say "Frisco." Ditto for DC area and "Reagan."
