I know another argument is due to car companies gaining the ability to remotely shut off any car of theirs through the ECU, ever since the late 00s. For some, it's a sign of freedom to have a fully unplugged, gas powered car. Once electric cars offer something gas cars simply can't, it's over.

I saw an engine from 1937 that had IDENTICAL spark plugs to cars today. That's incredible in one way but it's gotta be real limiting due to the sheer speed of continuing technological advancement over the past decades
