Most were shot multiple times - some at close range, including in the back or the head.

Forensic evidence and human rights investigations (including a UN fact-finding mission) found that at least six of the deaths were likely extrajudicial executions.

Fascism isn’t for debate. It’s a fire. Stamp it out fast, before it spreads.

That’s what they want. It makes its way to the Daily Mail, Sky News, and suddenly it’s a “debate.”

Just look at how fascist rhetoric flows into Peter Dutton’s talking points, like with the “Welcome to Country” backlash. He’s riding their wave.

This year, we honour the story by refusing its misuse.
By listening. Showing up. Rooting our rituals in solidarity, not supremacy.
Placing our stories alongside, not above.

From the narrow place, we don't move toward conquest, but toward collective freedom.

We are taught to mourn even our oppressors.
But today we’re told to stay silent as others are bombed, displaced, starved.
We’re told to call it defence. We’re told to look away.

We refuse.

Liberation built on domination is not liberation.
It’s apartheid. It cannot be done in our name.

This isn’t about making our past sacred. It’s about refusing to ignore the present.

Because oppression today doesn’t live in metaphor.
It lives in Gaza, under siege. In the West Bank, under occupation. In refugee camps, in exile, in rubble.

This Peysakh remember that diaspora is not exile. It's where we learned solidarity.

We come from a people who smashed idols, crossed seas, and defied kings. We are not here to be tools of empire.

May matzo turn to Ash in zionist's mouths.

The seder tells us to mourn Egyptian lives lost—even as we celebrate freedom. Zionism tells us to dehumanise Palestinians, to call genocide “security.”

This is not Judaism. This is not safety. This is fascism wrapped in a tallit.

Zionism has hijacked that story to justify genocide. It weaponises trauma to turn Jews into oppressors. And now, as bombs fall and babies starve in Gaza, we’re told to sit quietly and eat bitter herbs like nothing’s wrong.

But liberation for some is not liberation.

Apologies, the framing of this thread is needlessly vague and implies universities have directly adopted IHRA which is false. Precision in our posting is important, so need to clarify that these policies are based on IHRA, but not as strict. Dangerous nonetheless.

Universities: Do better. Drop the IHRA definition. Stand for free speech, human rights, and real solidarity.

Our liberation is tied to Palestinian liberation. The IHRA definition serves power, not justice. We refuse to let our identity be used to justify violence.

Jews against fascism means Jews against colonialism. It means standing in solidarity with oppressed people everywhere. And it means fighting for a future free of all forms of racism, including antisemitism

We stand with those resisting apartheid and occupation. We stand against the weaponisation of antisemitism to silence dissent. And we call on Australian universities to reject the IHRA definition and stand on the side of justice.

When universities prioritise protecting a state over protecting free speech and the safety of their own students, they betray their supposed commitment to academic integrity and human rights.

Let’s be clear: Zionism is not Judaism. The attempt to equate them puts all Jews at risk by making us responsible for the actions of a violent state. This alignment with colonialism and ethno-nationalism fuels antisemitism, not fights it.

The IHRA definition shields Israel from accountability, even as it commits war crimes. And the institutions adopting it are complicit in the repression of students, staff, and activists speaking up for Palestinian liberation.

As Jewish antifascists, we reject this weaponisation of antisemitism. We know what real antisemitism looks like - it’s the far-right violence, the conspiracy theories, the white nationalism. Criticism of a state committing apartheid isn’t it.

The IHRA definition conflates antisemitism with anti-Zionism - a POLITICAL ideology. It criminalises legitimate critique of Israel’s policies and silences Palestinians and their allies. This isn’t about fighting hate, it’s about protecting a colonial project.
