Ex chareidi. Still frum. Talking about orthodox judaism, books, and politics.
The way we talk about minorities is nauseating. The way we treat people who are different from us is so sad. We let the cruelty in. We embraced it.

How can we support it against others? Where's our rachamim? We're supposed to be B'nei Avraham, ish chesed. We're supposed to be Rachmanim B'nei Rachmanim. What happened?

Just about the only consistent value we teach our kids and support in trump is his casual racism. It's a sad state of affairs. We're Jews; we know what hate, racism, and discrimination do and how terrible it is from personal experience.

Meanwhile, the criminals still give their daf yomi shiurim. What kind of backward system is this? We teach our children middos, kindness, and purity, then turn around and support a cheating, lying, grifting, rapist, philandering bully.

Our shuls honor crooks, swindlers, rapists, and molesters. There are almost zero social/community disincentives for criminals. Reporting a crime to the proper authorities gets you shunned and labeled a Moser.

I was taught that middos matter. I was taught emes matters. I was taught that stealing is bad and that yidden are the most honest people in the world. Boy, was I lied to.

Didn't turn out that way. When it came down to it, they wholeheartedly embraced the political right's conspiracies and lunacy and ignored their own medical experts. For shame.

I lost friends and family who wouldn't have died but for the negligence of the haredi community. The haredi community I grew up in always claimed that they have more respect for life and the preservation of lives than the terrible goyim.

Yes, the amount of anger I have towards a community that abandoned our elderly and sickly because they couldn't be bothered to wear a mask in shul is intense.
