Sharing hidden bits about the corporate world of jewelry and general jewelry advice
Jared, Kay’s, and Zales are all owned by Signet Jewelers.

Ratner’s Group, a jewelry company, nearly fell apart completely after their CEO gave a speech about how their product was trash, but still sold well.

After this, in ‘93, Ratner’s rebranded… to Signet. It’s all a scam.

Haven’t posted here much, but if you have a ring like this, please be smart enough to not pay for it to be sized. It literally bends. Smfh.

How valuable is a diamond?

Well, large jewelry chains order them by the thousands and literally throw the less pretty ones in the trash.

They make the prices up.
You’re being scammed.
They’re just shiny rocks.
Get a cool gem instead.

Corporate jewelry companies send their top performers (managers and up only of course) on incredibly expensive trips every year. Hundreds of people get a free cruise or Vegas experience EVERY. YEAR.

That’s why your diamond cost $20k. Not because of intrinsic value. Because of greed.

You may think that jewelers make great money. And some do! But they tend to be private jewelers who have the time to do good work, so it’s a little more warranted.
Big company jewelers start at about $16/hr. And have quotas. So it’s rush work. Gross all around.

Natural Diamonds vs Lab Created Diamonds: What’s the difference?

Literally nothing. They are composed of the EXACT same material and are IDENTICAL.

Corporate Jewelry trains their employees with brainwashing modules on how much better natural diamonds are. This is a lie. They are the exact same.

Has a pearl ever fallen off of one of your pieces?

Don’t pay a jewelry store $100 to fix it. We literally just super glue it back on. That’s it. Spend the $3 on some super glue at the local store and get the same result at a fraction of the cost! And hey, a corporation is losing money! Double win!

Fun Fact: At many large jewelry chains, sizing rings is the first thing apprentices learn! If you bring your sentimental treasure to be sized at one of these places, it’s a good bet that the least experienced person there is working on it.
