Very strange take, I'm not sure what you mean by this as almost every character has a plethora of neutral tools and openers. Punish game and offstage play are also incredibly varied.

They are putting smash players in a rivals bracket, but they are already there, so it makes sense to also have a smash bracket.

The point is specifically to bring audiences from Smash TO rivals, so you run a exciting smash event in conjunction with Rivals. It's literally marketing
