Almost entirely. The original route had the western end that diverted from the 105 to Redondo Beach (now part of the K line), and the current C line route still diverges from 105 to the LAX/Metro Transit Center station.

From what I remember, the federal grants that helped get construction going required it because of the job creation in the more rural areas.

Give Metro the money to rebuild as a fully grade separated network. That will solve the problem of drivers delayed due to rail gates.

I did that for a SAN-SFO-SYD trip earlier this year. Cleared to Premium Plus on SFO-SYD right away then to Polaris a few days before departure. Only regular economy for SAN-SFO but I didn’t care about that leg.
