I don't think it's a bad game. I just prefer how Engage sim aspects were optional. This is the same issue I have with Persona. I don't have the patience for the sim. I just want to fight. I engaged with the sim more in Engage because it was my choice when I wanted to.

And I think the fact that defeating homunculi has no real impact on the big bad is also a bit lackluster. Greed is the only one that really has an overall impact on the final battle. The homunculi's role is to impede progress and that's really all in Brotherhood.

I do think overall they are better characters in Brotherhood. But them being simply pawns is a bit lackluster. I am not a huge fan of 2003's ending but I do like that it isn't just a flat out happy one. But Brotherhood earns it's happy ending after how grueling it is.

They failed to bring her back, but also created this monster in her place. Now, does 2003 really explore these themes well, not really. But I still love the idea. Although 2003 isn't the best, I still think it is worth watching. It's just too bad it's not on any service as far as I know.

Spoilers ahead for FMA 2003. In 2003 the homunculi are created from failed human transmutation. They tend to have a direct link to the character who committed the taboo. For example, one ends up looking exactly like Ed and Al's mother. It adds a whole new layer, that can be explored.

I knew it was not going to be a masterpiece. But I thought it would be a bit more enjoyable than it was. I wish it didn't treat the audience as if they were dumb and could not follow the most basic of storylines. Those are my final thoughts. That brain worm that wanted closure finally got it.

Naraku is terrible villain that only runs away and creates versions of himself that always want him dead. Most of the dialogue is characters saying what they see out loud. How many times per episode can the same 3 shards be purified and defiled? And why do they always have to announce it?
