Have worked in the CJ field for 20 yrs. Native Midwesterner who escaped to the West Coast.
I just watched the "X" trilogy (Pearl, X and Maxxxine). It was pretty good.

I've also been recommending Daddy's Head. Horror movies really don't get to me much but that one had me turning on all the lights in the house for a few days.

Great list! I would also add Daddy's Head. It messed with my mind for days after I watched it.

The City We Became by NK Jemisin. Her writing is exquisite and the story is absolutely fascinating. 🤌

Agreed. Vox is good.

100% agree! I read The City We Became and fell in love with her writing, storytelling and the world she created (I've only read the one). I'm very much looking forward to reading her other books too.

For that reason I have read very few of his. Dean Koontz, however, hooks you right away and takes you on such wild rides! Reading Koontz books I've often thought to myself "where does he get these crazy ideas?!" 🤷

As someone with degrees in psychology and criminal justice I found it fascinating.

I'm very interested so I wanted to make sure I was looking for the right book. Thanks for the suggestion!

Do you mean the Sociopath Next Door? There are (oddly) many books titled The Psychopath Next Door but I'm not seeing any by Stout.

Half way through Crown of Midnight (SJM) but also need to finish the last few chapters of the audio book for The Black Company (Glen Cook) I started on a recent trip.

Oh, and I really was freaked out by Daddy's Head but my bestie thought it was meh so...

Not necessarily horror but damned creepy is Dark (Netflix). Just crazy good.

Gotta go with Terrifier 3. It was equally gory and hilarious!

Have you read the sequel The World We Make? I have it but haven't read it yet.

I agree with the others, don't waste your time.

I'm not a big non-fiction reader but I have also read Bonk and Gulp by Roach. She's hilarious and educational at the same time. How can one not love that?!

I thought Jemisin's concept for this story was incredibly fascinating and her writing is 🤌
