“As (the NT Gov) lead us in a direction that criminalises poverty driven offending, there are no signs that the ‘youth crime crisis’ that propelled them to election victory is being solved. Instead, we are seeing police, courts & prisons stretched well beyond their limits."

Safe, secure and affordable housing is a fundamental human right. We believe that the redevelopment must ensure the homes meet or exceed modern building and sustainability standards, and in turn provide a higher standard of living for current and future residents.

Public hearings for the Inquiry into the redevelopment of Melbourne’s public housing towers began last week and continue throughout July and August. We recently made a submission to the Inquiry, advocating for a just and equitable approach to the redevelopments 👇

With well over half a billion dollars being invested into expanding the state’s prison system, #vicbudget is a missed opportunity to invest more into prevention and early intervention to support stronger communities.
