I can't imagine *anything* positive coming from adding a dislike button... but I can imagine authors of rare/not popular pairs getting mass disliked by the "it's not canon" or morality police

(obviously the people who read my stories are important to me, personally, and I want them to have a good time. but when it comes to the archive itself... ^)

what you like and don't like is irrelevant. nobody cares if a story upsets you. there is no feedback form because an archive has no need to think about customer satisfaction, and the dissonance with people who are so used to being "the product" is palpable

when it comes to the core function of an archive, there's this bizarre but distinct sense of people not being able to conceptualize that they, as "consumers", are not a consideration

actually, you're not even a consumer—you're a spectator. you can watch or look away but you cannot intervene
