This ostracon shows the hieroglyphs for ‘life’, ‘stability’ and ‘power’. Look at the grid system that the artist used to draw the signs at the correct proportion. 🤩

What is hieratic? 📜
Hieratic is a cursive script based on ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. It’s written with ink & a reed brush on papyrus, leather, or other surfaces.
This handwritten script was used as a faster way of writing.

What are hieroglyphs?
Hieroglyphs, meaning ‘sacred carvings’, describe an ancient Egyptian script that originated around 3200 BCE. The signs were mostly carved in stone and used on temple & tomb walls, and on other objects such as sarcophagi, statues and stelae.
