Without Tom Stoppard, my life would have been unimaginably different, and there would be an infinite number of jests unjested and laughs unlaughed. Also, thanks for not suing us. I owe you one.

Good night... well, you know the rest.

Also also, the juxtaposition of classes, with Harrison's lager lout taking the place of the miners. If you haven't recently read "A Propos of Lady Chatterley's Lover," Lawrence's own commentary on the novel, I recommend it; you'll see all the echoes. Thanks for sharing!

Also, the theme of the dehumanizing effects of industry in general and the coal industry especially on English culture. Lawrence would be surprised to learn that despite how little has changed, our "civilization" is still struggling onward.

Also, love all the soccer talk in the Midlands vernacular!

What a fabulous poem, and what extraordinary time for me to learn of it. I just finished devouring Lady Chatterley's Lover, which I somehow had never read. V is almost certainly, consciously, a coda to Lawrence, continuing the themes of unity via love, especially masculine-feminine love.

Good luck with your "promised" "vote." You're a spineless coward and a disgrace to humanity. Shame on you.

Aaaand you caved. You spineless traitor. Shame on you. Voters will remember.

Nah, it's a betrayal. It had better work.

I won't click. Brooks manages to be superciliously self-congratulatory about being wrong about absolutely everything. Just this morning I was thinking maybe I'd re-up NYT Games at least. Changed my mind.
