Me too. I was incredibly annoyed at myself because I tried twice and simply got annoyed both times so I still haven't finished it.

I mean, there are strange cultural differences that forever baffled me but enthusiasm-wise, Americans couldn't be beaten.

LOL. I'm unfortunately too busy to tell the story of the time the Home Office raided the place I was working & tried to cart me off as an illegal just because it took everyone a while to find the p/copy of my passport.

Sunjeev Suhata's 'The Year of the Runaways' is an amazing piece of old fashioned saga-style storytelling about contemporary migration; totally different, but also loved Ayşegül Savas' 'The Anthropologists'; & for a pageturner, Aisling Rawle's 'The Compound' is a knockout.
