We sing in many languages (this time in English, Xhosa and Afrikaans, but previously also Sotho, Italian and Korean) and have arrangements made specifically for us so we can perform South African contemporary music from artists like Mafikizolo, Brenda Fassie, Miriam Makeba and Die Heuwels Fantasies.

For people who don't love traditional choral music, this is a whole other thing. We perform pop, rock, musical theatre and other assorted contemporary things, with choreography and all sorts of delightful theatre magic.

But YEAH I am so glad I trusted myself with this and that other people trusted me with it too, I CAN do it and I WILL do it and I'll do it WELL. We can do hard things!

(We just had a new member intake so now it's more like 100+ people that I am shepherding, so check in and ask if I still feel this way in 6 months)

I do think I took this on at the right time, and I am building this experience on a foundation created by a lot of good therapy and growth, but wow I am RISING TO THE OCCASION and I am so happy and ready to be this version of myself

Small misunderstandings or screw-ups that would have absolutely tormented me a few months ago can be handled calmly and without panic! People relying on me is not a source of stress but a source of joy and pride!

This is not a shady post like "ugh, character development, yayyyy" - I can feel myself becoming a better, happier and more well-adjusted person in real time. I am so much better at dealing with conflict. I am so much more organised (and I was pretty fuckin organised before)
