I've been *mostly* dry since mid-November and feeling great. The time apart has made me reassess my relationship to alcohol. Going forward, I'd like to reserve alcohol for celebrations only. No more imbibing while unloading the dishwasher on a Tuesday.

I'm so glad somebody wrote about "boomerasking," when somebody asks you a question but takes zero interest in the response then flips the convo right back to them. Maddening.

Essay | ‘Boomerasking’ Is a Big, Self-Centered Foul in Conversation
Some people ask questions just to get asked the same questions about themselves. If that’s you, stop! It ruins the magic of sincere exchanges.

What an absolutely horrific week. Devastating wild fires in LA, zero water in #Richmond, VA and an #earthquake in San Fran. What else you got, God?

Thinking about common pitfalls to launching a successful online fitness platform. What makes some online Pilates studios successful while others flop? #pilates #pilatesreformer #smallbusinessowner

This WSJ article about the booming cost of house insurance and property taxes caught my eye.

Omaha, NE has the third highest share of borrowers spending more than half their monthly mortgages on taxes and insurance.

OMAHA?? Why?

Having mostly* abstained from alcohol since mid-November, I can say I LOVE waking up every morning without wine brain. I would say it's a super power but that would make me sound like I was an alcoholic. (*I imbibed at a couple of holiday parties.)

The New York Times can be so sanctimonious! As if they WEREN'T salivating all over SBF with the rest of media earlier on. But now they're all, we told you so.

What happens to Caroline Ellison, Gary Wang, et al in the wake of SBF's fraud conviction? Do they get to walk?

Just listened to the latest episode of #TheDreamPodcast about @seejanemarie.bsky.social interview of #JessieLeeWard. First of all, Ward came across as so boisterous and unnecessarily hateful. Secondly, I was shocked to learn Ward recently died of colon cancer!

I'm actually a little disturbed by how obsessed my 13 yo is with Taylor Swift. She listens to her non-stop from the moment she wakes up [interlude of school], back home then into bedtime. I know she's a genius, but I don't understand this level of obsession. 😳

So far Bluesky feels a lot more kooky and fringe than other social media platforms. I'm not complaining!

Can any #writers #authors out there relate? I know I'll keep going until it's finished but I need a burst of energy or inspiration to see me through.

Got notes back from the agent about my novel in September. We agreed that certain structural things need to change latter half of the book. I've been revising every day since then but, man, I'm sick of my own book! Sick of the characters, sick my writing, sick or working on it. #writingcommunity
