My point was more that both in terms of purchasing power *and* in terms of debt the US is still rich. If you don't like that answer then...fine? But why ask a question about economic comparison just to get annoyed when the comparison is correctly made. Despite the debt it's a very rich country.

They're not caveats they're reasonable ways to measuring statistics. Because why would you count tax havens that people park their money in but the citizens don't own the money. And why would you *not* measure per capita?
