Today I raised the impact of years of Tory cuts to public services in Bournemouth West with the Prime Minister - youth services gone, neighbourhood policing decimated, no NHS dentists.
He confirmed there will be no return to austerity. We're rebuilding our public services.

Good news - NHS waiting lists down 230,000 since last July and ambulance response times nearly 10 minutes faster for heart attacks and strokes.
Real progress for Bournemouth West, but we'll keep pushing for more.

Police & Crime Commissioners are being scrapped.

This will cut bureaucracy, save £100m & allow us to reinvest £20m/year into frontline policing.

I asked the minister to look again at the funding formula - Bournemouth West needs support for our seasonal pressures and rural areas.

I recently hosted a series of Safer Communities events in my Bournemouth West constituency bringing together Dorset Police & BCP Council's ASB team so we could hear from residents, address their concerns and share progress being made.

There was such an incredible display of community at the Armistice Day Service of Remembrance in Kinson.

It is a powerful testament to what our armed forces, all those who served past and present and their sacrifice for our freedoms means to us here.

We will remember them 🌺

🌺 This Remembrance Sunday, I’m honouring all who served - and dedicating my tribute to David Wood and Helping Homeless Veterans UK, who support some of our most vulnerable veterans in Bournemouth & Poole.

We will remember them.

I spoke to BBC Politics South about the NHS 10-year plan's three shifts: analogue to digital, treatment to prevention, hospital to community. Locally, Bournemouth's new Beach building & Poole becoming a major planned treatment hospital.

Last night I spoke about the DES drug scandal in the Hillsborough Law debate. Today I hosted the launch of the DES Justice Campaign at Westminster with affected women.

These campaigners have fought for decades to be heard. Justice delayed must never be justice denied. 💙

What difference is a Labour government making?

NHS waiting times coming down, economy growing at fastest rate in G7, billions invested in schools & NHS, plus new employment & renters' rights.

This government is ending hotel use for asylum seekers and cleaning up the Conservative mess. Hotels aren't good for communities, asylum seekers or taxpayers. We've reduced hotels in use, sped up processing and removed record numbers with no right to be here. More work to do.

🏠 The Renters’ Rights Bill is now law!

This is the biggest upgrade in renters’ rights in a generation. Bournemouth West has higher than the national average of people living in privately rented homes.

Please share with anyone you know who is a renter 🙏🏼

📽️ Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has sent a special message thanking staff at Elm Academy for successfully rolling out one of Labour's new free breakfast clubs! 2.5m breakfasts have now been served across country.

In Parliament I asked how brilliant local charities like SAMEE that help young people with learning difficulties become self-employment can benefit from the government’s focus on post-16 skills.

I've written to the Minister for Local Government asking her to review BCP Council's new town councils decision. I requested an review of the process and what powers exist to prevent councils imposing unwanted governance changes against public opinion. Letter below ⬇️

Great to visit the new net zero, solar-powered Oak Academy building - an inspiring place for local young people to learn. In Parliament I asked Ministers how we can ensure more of our schools get this investment to become greener.

Proud to support "Check In, Chill Out" launched by local hoteliers including Marsham Court Hotel. Our hospitality sector showcases what makes Bournemouth special. It's more important than ever to celebrate our coastline, heritage, innovation & diversity.

Diversity is our strength. I pay tribute to our local churches and the work they do to welcome asylum seekers and unite the communities of people from around the world who have chosen Bournemouth as their home.

I am very disappointed to see @bcpcouncil.bsky.social ploughing on with plans to introduce town council - despite clear & widespread objections from residents, councillors & local MPs, multiple petitions & a razor thin majority on the final vote last night. www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/2554319...

Brilliant news - maintenance grants are coming back for students from low-income households in Bournemouth West. Scrapped in 2016, they'll now support disadvantaged students on priority courses. Funded by a levy on international fees. Full details revealed at the Autumn Budget.
