I was in 3rd grade. They had wheeled in the AV cart so we could watch the launch live in our classroom. The next year, we wrote “Man of the Year” reports on big events from 1986. At least half the class chose to write about Challenger. Every 3rd and 4th graders could converse about how O-rings work.
