I learned, just now, that they’ve been eliminated by the regime. Not surprising considering the work they did. But wow this hurts more than I expected.

I got to be a fly on the wall and hear the most amazing stories from civil rights activists, the plain clothed, unsung heroes in our communities. To say that internship had a profound impact on me is an understatement. It has informed my work as a therapist and how I approach life in general. ⬇️

Fast forward through a few hoops jumps, and I found myself interning (unpaid of course— it was 2009) at a little-known federal agency called the Community Relations Service. They did amazing work related to hate crime prevention, community healing and mediation between communities and police. ⬇️
