Thursdays and Saturdays are the most difficult crosswords. Thursday often has a weird schtick; Saturday clues are oblique or obscure. I can usually finish on my own, but on the rare times I get skunked I only take hints from @wikipedia.org. Consider donating to keep my crutch alive. ⬇️

The school MADE ME BUY compliance thesis paper, and then months later switched to digital printing the same year. Bookstore would not take the case of paper back. It took me A DOZEN YEARS to go through that paper, and I am old and still print things to read as a treat sometimes. I cannot believe I will not have any of these boxes staring at me anymore. One gray tabby cat grooms another’s ear. Tongue blep visible. Two tabby cats sleeping with faces touching. They have very pointy ears; one has white paws and high contrast stripes on his tail. He does not know that his pointy ears and stripey tail significantly endear him to his human even more than his socks. At one point, long ago now, said socks and stripey tail and pointy ears fit fully inside her shoe. She reminds him of this often; he listens, respectful but uncomprehending. His patient expression seems to say: There is no such thing as then and now, human. There is only cat. He is unsure she can be taught.

Arctic sea ice update: June 2025 Sea ice extent back into record low territory RICK THOMAN JUN 25, 2025 After a bit of recovery in April and May, sea ice extent for the Arctic overall is back to being the lowest in the 47-year satellite record. ****Late breaking news**** Literally as I was about to hit "“send” on this post, EUMETSAT posted that the US DoD will cease distributing the underlying data used in the NSIDC and EUMETSAT sea ice analysis as of June 30. This had been expected at the end of September. We’ll find out soon but this very likely means a disruption to global sea ice products. IPCC-62 discussions on mCDR in TFI removals methodology challenging / postponed. Anybody know the major objections? 🌊
Discussions were also difficult on the Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Technologies, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories Methodology Report, particularly regarding the inclusion of CO2 removal from waterbodies. While the broader methodological framework was approved, further deliberations on volume 7—focused on marine CDR—were postponed to IPCC-63.
