In general we took the view that messaging should be as secure as possible. We recommended developers adopt “Privacy by Design” and “Design from the Margins”—build for the most vulnerable, and everyone benefits. Clearly, some folks at the top of the chain of command could benefit, too.

She says the main trends in 2024 were violent and intimidating responses to peaceful assemblies; increasing surveillance; a double standard for pro-Israel versus pro-Palestine protests; and that disciplinary impacts were felt by Muslim, Black, and migrant students disproportionately.
